2005 Arular (11)

M.I.A.'s debut album. Three good songs: "Sunshowers", "Galang" and "M.I.A.". Seven disappointments: "Fire Fire", "Pull Up The People", "Bucky Done Gun", "Amazon", "Bingo", "Hombre" and "10 Dollar". The album also includes "Banana / Freedom / One For The Head", an odd experimental composition divided into three separate tracks. "Galang" and "Sunshowers" were first released as singles in 2003 and 2004, respectively.

2007 Kala (12)

M.I.A.'s greatest album. Two timeless classics: "Paper Planes" and "Jimmy". Five great songs: "Bamboo Banga", "Come Around", "Bird Flu", "Boyz" and "Hussel". Five disappointments: "World Town", "The Turn", "XR2", "20 Dollar" and "Mango Pickle Down River". "Bird Flu" was first released as a single in 2006.

2010 Maya (12)

M.I.A.'s highest-charting album. But also her weakest one, with only one excellent song ("Born Free") and one short-but-memorable experimental composition ("The Message"). All the rest is quite forgettable: "XXXO", "It Takes A Muscle", "Steppin Up", "Teqkilla", "Tell Me Why", "Lovalot", "Story To Be Told", "It Iz What It Iz", "Meds And Feds" and "Space".

2013 Matangi (15)

Five good songs: "Double Bubble Trouble", "Bad Girls", "Come Walk With Me", "Warriors" and "Exodus". Ten disappointments: "Matangi", "Y.A.L.A.", "Bring The Noize", "Sexodus", "Karmageddon", "Only 1 U", "Atention", "Boom Skit", "Lights" and "Know It Ain't Right". "Bad Girls" was first released as a single in 2012. 

2016 AIM (12)

One masterpiece: "Borders". Four fine songs: "Bird Song", "Finally", "Freedun" and "Foreign Friend". Seven disappointments: "Go Off", "Jump In", "A.M.P (All My People)", "Ali R U OK?", "Visa", "Fly Pirate" and "Survivor". "Borders" was first released as a single in 2015.

2022 Mata (13)

One excellent song: "K.T.P. (Keep The Peace)". Five fine tunes: "Time Traveller", "Marigold", "Beep", "Popular" and "The One". Seven disappointments: "Energy Freq", "F.I.A.S.O.M. Pt 2", "100% Sustainable", "Mata Life", "Zoo Girl", "Puththi" and "F.I.A.S.O.M. Pt 1".
